DVD Filming Has Begun!

Sunday, December 17th, 2006

Adro and I started filming our first exercise DVD today and it was a load of fun. Well actually Adro had to do all the exercise and he'll be pretty sore tomorrow as it's the first exercise he's done since the surgery. Being his first time back he got to see what it was like exercising without the loose skin jumping and slapping about and it was great to see the joy that brought him.

We shot the video at C2K which is a large fitness centre at Castle Hill in Sydney's north west. Argakant was our assistant and he put in a great days work.

One of the funny things to happen during the day was when a couple of Japanese gym owners (they own 16 fitness centres in Japan) were gettign a tour through the centre. The manager introduced them to Adro and described how he'd been on TV and what for, etc. We showed them some photos that I had on my PC and they were blown away. The looks on there face were priceless!

Anyway, keep an eye out for the DVD!

Big Fight in February

Thursday, December 14th, 2006

As I mentioned in an earlier post I'm now working with a group of world class boxers. Currently I'm working pretty intensely with Allan Luxford, who is the current Australian Lightweight, and Asia Pacific Super Featherweight title holder. He's a tough little fighter and finally get's his chance to step up level when he fights Gairy St. Clair in February in Sydney.

St Clair up until a few weeks ago held the World Featherweight Title. Originally from Guyana, he is now based in Sydney and trains under the legendary Johnny Lewis.

This will be a tough fight for Allan but I have no doubt he'll do himself proud.

Major obesity surgery for children will be available on the NHS

Sunday, December 10th, 2006

I just came across this story. Can you believe they're even contemplating this?

Why not just teach the parents and children healthy lifestyle choices?

Read on:

Obese children are to receive potentially life-threatening stomach surgery on the NHS under controversial new guidelines out next week.

Overweight teenagers as young as 14 are set to undergo major operations such as a gastric bypass, stapling and banding in a bid to curb Britain's obesity epidemic. Gastric bypass surgery is regarded as a safer form of stomach stapling, which bypasses part of the small intestine to reduce the capacity of the stomach.

In addition children under 12 will be offered anti-obesity drugs - despite the medication being licensed only for use in adults.

Experts proposing the guidelines say these "last resort" measures should be used only when children are so fat their health is endangered by heart disease, diabetes and other weight-related disorders.
